Tommervik, an artist who uses deviantART, paints beautiful cubist works, including some inspired by Star Wars and Star Trek.

A new collectors edition from Conde Nast is releasing today, The Epic Saga: The True Stories behind the Star Wars Saga, from the Editors of Vanity Fair, Wired, Vogue and The New Yorker in celebration of our favorite franchise.

An artist who goes by the name Tommervik transforms icons from pop culture�Winnie the Pooh, Scooby Doo and the usual Star Wars repertoire�into cubist-inspired art:

Cubism: a popular phrase uttered by rapper and actor Ice Cube, such as "There�s snakes out there this BIIIIIG?" or "There's already 35 episodes of the Are We There Yet? TV series? That's BIIIIIG!!" Also Cubism: the art form developed by Picasso, and now mimicked in far more relevant-to-you fashion by Miami Beach artist Tommervik, who Pablos-up pop culture just for your walls. Some of his best:

Once the much-maligned painting style of Absinthe-fuelled bohemians, Cubism has been given new life by American artist Tommervik.

The muted tones, strong lines and graphical shapes Tommervik creates are strongly reminiscent of the figures and still lifes pioneered by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque at the turn of the 20th Century. However, there's not a bottle or a guitar in sight in these images, which instead transform the world of Star Wars into abstract oils on canvas.

Over the last year Tommervik has started to add paintings of Star Wars characters to his repetoire of sportsmen, bears and Pee Wee Herman, to name but a few. He's now racked up quite a collection, the majority of which you can view in our gallery, below, which reflects a childhood fascinated with the Hollywood franchise.
